The Legion of Mary was started September 7, 1921, in Dublin, Ireland by the founder Frank Duff. In 2021, the Legion of Mary celebrated 100 years of service. The first Presidium (local parish unit) in the United States was established November 27, 1931, in Raton, New Mexico. Since that date, the work of the legion has spread throughout the United States and has had a presence here in Basehor, Kansas at Holy Angels Catholic Church since December 6, 2003.
The purpose of the legion is to be the hands and feet of Mary and Jesus by doing God’s work. The goal is to save souls and feed the spiritual hunger by being a soldier of Jesus Christ.
